Hey! My name is XXX and I have been recommended to you by ExpatJane..... in any case ...you're obviously a sista. Which I think is great. I am wondering how difficult it is to get a job in Seoul as a black girl. I know you have to send your pictures with every job you apply for but still ..... could you tell me your job application experience. Thank you so much !!!

hi XXX, thanks for emailing.

how hard was it to get a job? not that hard, really. update your resume with all your teaching experience/working with kids, etc, and take a photo from the shoulders up wearing something business like. i posted my resume on eslcafe.com and hiteacher, and i got emails galore with lots of offers.

i write about it in more detail in the blog, but seems to me that korea is a lot like the states: there are plenty of companies that wont hire people of color. we dont let that hold us back. we go on anyway. i'll be leaving for korea on friday morning, so do let me know if you have more questions and hopefully i'll have more experienced answers for you.~i_teach
