Subject: Looking for info on Korea

Hello,

I came across your blog when I was on Dave's esl. Enjoyed it! I am looking to do a summer camp in Korea this coming year, and any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I have tons of experience working in this field in Toronto, Canada, and I was looking to go to Korea for a few months to do some traveling.

I have heard from friends and students that it isn't easy getting a job in Korea as a non-Caucasian (My background is SriLankan). Have you had any problems? Do you know of any recruiters or camps that I can contact?

I know it's a little weird to be getting an email from a complete stranger, but if you have any information that I could use, that would be great.

Thank you

hi eslteacher. if you have tons of experience, then im sure you wont find the job difficult. many complaints about teaching in korea are from people who have no prior experience with children. is it easy to get a job? yes. easier if youre white, but you will still get offers, better ones, b/c schools that only hire based on color are shitty to work for anyway.
as for recruiters; i used goodenglish1st.
http://www.goodenglish1st.net/
other reputable companies are footprints, worknplay, and atc
http://www.footprintsrecruiting.com/
http://www.worknplay.co.kr/ or http://www.worknplay.com/

recruiters are only the middle man, they find a school for you. they are all about the same, so long as they dont ask you for any money, you dont pay them, theyre paid by the school.
if youre on facebook, check out the group, many people there to ask and asnwer ques.
